Muslim Militants Kidnap Four Baptists, Kill Christian Woman in Nigeria

Less than a week after Muslim Fulani herdsmen kidnapped six teenage girls from a Christian-run high school in the north-central region of Jos, Plateau State, another attack in the same region (this time, Kaduna) has led to the killing of a Baptist woman and the kidnapping of four others from the same church, sources told Morning Star News.

Muslim Fulani herdsmen killed Ezra Haruna, a member of Godiya Baptist Church in Ungwan Barau village, in an attack on the village near Udawa in Chikun County, Kaduna state, at 4 a.m. on Monday (Oct. 7), a church member told Morning Star News.

Four other church members, including Jummai Ido, the church pastor’s wife, were kidnapped in the attack, said Godiya Baptist Church member, Joseph Umaru.

“Three others kidnapped also during the invasion are Luka Auta, Sale Auta [brothers] and Yakubu Audu,” Umaru told Morning Star News.

According to Umaru, the armed herdsmen stormed the community and shot indiscriminately into houses, forcing residents to flee into bushes surrounding the village.

Fulani Herdsmen have been named the fourth deadliest terror group on earth. In a bid to displace ancestral land owners in much of the Northern region of Nigeria, especially the north-central region, the herdsmen have for years now waged a brutal war against indigenous Christian communities, forcing hundreds of thousands to permanently flee from their villages, which is then overrun and overtaken by the herdsmen. Many Christian leaders see this as a barefaced land-grabbing mechanism that has gone on unabated while the government at best looks the other way.
